International research documents that various disciplines, which were traditionally considered systematically separated and therefore also institutionally distinct, are converging due to the internal logic of their development within the context of complementary questions. Currently, parts of linguistics, psychology, and artificial intelligence are particularly coming together in cognitive science. This new scientific discipline is emerging under the unifying paradigm of information processing systems. Cognitive linguistics is a result of this scientific development process, which thus determines its objectives, forms of theory formation, and empirical approaches. Within the general framework of cognitive science, processes of visual and auditory perception are examined.
