The Section for Vocational and Economic Education of the German Society for Educational Science held its autumn conference in 1998 in Augsburg. In addition to a wide range of presentations from vocational and economic educational research, the scientific conference focused on the profiling of the DFG priority program "Teaching-Learning Processes in Commercial Initial Training." A total of 26 speakers registered for the conference, which indicates a high level of acceptance for the event. Furthermore, the conference was accompanied by a poster presentation. The authors of this publication had to adhere to very strict guidelines regarding the page length. As a result, the speakers were tasked with focusing on the essential aspects of their contributions after the conference.
