Product details

One could summarize: Since Rio (1992), nothing has been as sustainable as talking and writing about 'Sustainable Development,' and at the same time, nothing has been as hopeless as the attempt to define the term in a way that achieves consensus and universal applicability. With these bitter words begins a critical analysis in the journal "Politische Ökologie" regarding the sustainability debate in Germany so far. Will the inflationary use of the word "sustainability" lead us to reduce everything that seems noble, helpful, and good to a mere buzzword? Or is the term more than a flexible template for Sunday speeches and empty declarations of intent? The concept of sustainability originally comes from forestry and indicates that only as much wood may be harvested as can be regenerated.
