This introduction provides an overview of approximately 30 years of development in women's and gender studies in the Federal Republic of Germany. This academic field, which owes its impetus to the women's movement, is characterized by the close interplay between theoretical concepts, methods, and empirical findings. It is therefore all the more important to gain insights into the ongoing differentiation of the various research approaches. Excerpts from original texts are preceded by explanations with additional literature references. This textbook is suitable for students as well as educators to support teaching activities, but also for interested laypersons.
