Product details
Damir Softic reconstructs the career paths of members of the Bundestag with a migration background and investigates the conditions under which migrants gain initial access to the political elite in Germany. He analyzes the challenges of political advancement and demonstrates that migration experiences and social background influence political strategies, habitus, and representation practices. Based on biographical interviews, dimensions of transnational habitus genesis are elaborated to show that there are migration-specific resources that impact successful political ascent.
