The aim of this volume is to strengthen the connection between higher education research and women's and gender studies in academia. Following the editors' plea for the development of integrative perspectives, 20 individual contributions outline the spectrum of currently pressing issues in higher education research and highlight specific points of connection. The separate paths of higher education research and women's and gender studies over the past approximately 30 years are traced, examining internal university dynamics and everyday practices, as well as aspects of the Europeanization and internationalization of German universities, which are reflected upon empirically, theoretically, and in terms of higher education policy. Overall, a critical engagement with one's own history and everyday practice emerges as one of the most important prerequisites for integrative research.
