Policy field analysis examines what political actors do, why they do it, and what effects they achieve. Its goal is to provide systematic knowledge about politics for the purpose of politics. In line with the objectives of the series "Elements of Politics," this volume offers an introductory overview of the relationship between political science and policy field analysis, the main theoretical and methodological approaches, key concepts (e.g., actors, institutions, governance instruments), the so-called "policy cycle," as well as causes and explanations for political changes.
