Product details

Since the mid-1990s, integrative spatial-oriented approaches to neighborhood development, such as those within the Social City program, have gained significance. However, the spatial reference at the center is rarely further qualified beyond a territorial delineation of municipal spatial responsibilities. Instead, "space" appears as the only "given" variable. Thomas Franke explores in his qualitative study the question of which spatially relevant goals are pursued from which actor perspectives within this new development approach. He analyzes how the involved actors define the underlying spatial reference between "program area" and "everyday space" and what work experiences are associated with it. The research findings and his model of "dual area reference" contribute to a practical qualification.
