The concept of "resilience" has gained remarkable resonance in sociology in recent years. It seems to offer an interesting and promising new approach to central societal issues and fields of action for the social sciences in general and sociology in particular. This book publication represents the first comprehensive attempt to present sociological resilience research in the German-speaking world and also to provide an initial mapping of this research field. The aim of the volume is to highlight theoretical development and embedding possibilities and to open up the horizon for further empirical studies in the three fields of action: economy, politics, and social spaces.
