In this work, Ulrich Glöckler and Gisela Maul address an interesting question for leadership research. Based on the situational leadership model conceived by Paul Hersey and Ken Blanchard, they explore how the resources of employees can be optimized and promoted in a situational and task-related manner through leadership behavior, in the context of a learning process. The authors adopt a systemic approach and complement the discussion of leadership styles in practice with counseling methods. Leadership is considered successful by the authors when employee potentials are activated and utilized in the best possible way for tasks and work situations. According to the authors, a supportive environment is a prerequisite for successfully leading employees.
