Health is one of the central values in our current society. Both public and personal interest in health has significantly increased over the past few decades. More and more issues are being addressed with medical solutions, and behaviors such as poor nutrition, smoking, and lack of exercise are increasingly labeled as harmful to health and are being combated. Behind every minor ailment, there is a suspicion of the manifestation, or at least the onset, of a serious illness. Healthy processes, such as aging, are increasingly being problematized and medicalized, and even the most pleasurable activities are assessed in light of their inherent health risks. It is suggested that every decision we make is simultaneously a health decision.
