Since the major wave of revelations regarding abuse cases in church and reform educational institutions in 2010, it has become clear to a wider public that a significant number of male children and adolescents are also affected by sexualized violence. Particularly concerning in this context was the realization that most victims remained silent about what had been done to them for many decades. For a long time, both psycho-social work and political authorities overlooked the male victims. Not least within the framework of the Round Table convened by the federal government to address the abuse cases, there has been a call for appropriate, i.e., gender-sensitive support for the victims of sexualized violence. This book provides an overview of the topic for the first time.
