It is one of the characteristics of political science research that it follows the developments in politics according to the focus of its interests. With the expansion of the subject of politics, there has also been a continuous broadening of the research fields in political science over the past few decades. This observation is particularly true for the currently rapidly growing focus on political transformation research. In this area, both a variety of traditional topics of the discipline and its connections with the questions of neighboring disciplines are particularly evident. Especially due to the events since 1989, the number of case studies on individual transformation influences has risen very quickly. Efforts are being made to methodically and theoretically address the diverse challenges.
