In the mainstream of urban planning and the day-to-day work of urban planners, alternative forms of urban action often go unnoticed. However, sometimes a small trigger or an idea is enough to shake an entire system. The motives, cultures, and scenes of urban action are so multifaceted and complex that potential driving forces for change are either overlooked or dismissed as irrelevant. Currently, there is a growing impression that the patterns of action and structures of urban planning belong to a slowly fading era. Social activities and technologies that enable and facilitate participation in knowledge indicate fundamental changes. This study on subversive urban planning aims to shed light on an ongoing development and the key aspects associated with it.
