Without mass media reporting, most people would hardly learn anything about terrorist attacks. However, the media can portray such attacks in very different ways. The study compares the terrorism coverage of five television channels from different countries and regions of the world: CNN, Al Jazeera, BBC, ARD, and RTL. It examines the formats of reporting, the content interpretations of the attacks, and the associated emotional representations. The identified differences and similarities are interpreted, among other things, using globalization theories and theories of cultural differences.
