Youth violence has become an intensively discussed phenomenon in public discourse in recent years. In light of how societal attention structures have developed, it seems advisable to approach the topic of youth violence with great caution. The question of what meaning youth violence holds should not be limited to the subjective interpretations. Through narrative interviews with thirteen adolescents convicted of violent offenses, the author explores, from a sociological and theoretical perspective, the underlying meaning of youth violence. The attempt to trace the transmission of violent knowledge structures as a process in subjective representations leads to the currently urgent discussion of structural violence. From this, the thesis emerges that prevention and intervention are necessary.
