When class struggle is mentioned, one never thinks of its very everyday forms, of the ruthless mutual contempt, of the arrogance, of the overwhelming bragging about children's success, vacations, cars, or other status symbols, of hurtful indifference, of insults, and so on. Changing life would also mean changing the many small trivialities that make up people's lives and which today are entirely regarded as private matters and left to the chatter of moralists.
