The path to a society free from domination seems blocked. Ideas of reform and revolution, as well as the hopeful utopias of socialism and communism, have been lost for many. Is the space of hope therefore closed? With the help of two new theoretical approaches, the authors aim to reopen this space. The categorical utopia theory seeks to understand utopia as a space of possibilities. It is neither a wishful thinking exercise nor a no man's land. The abolition theory places the construction of new social forms at the center of transformation. A free society does not emerge spontaneously, nor is it the result of a blueprint. It can only be created by the people themselves. With both theories, new reflections on utopia and transformation are invited by the authors.
