Induction technology is alive and continues to develop. This was already stated in the preface of the specialized book published in 2009 for engineers, technicians, and practitioners from melting operations and foundries. Therefore, it is only logical that Vulkan Verlag announces the release of the 3rd edition of this standard work for fall 2018, after the 2nd edition published in 2013 was widely accepted and is now out of print. The concept of the book remains the same: Following an introductory presentation of the fundamentals of the induction process, the description of plant technology, and melting metallurgy, the focus is on the metallurgical process engineering of induction systems for melting, holding, and casting. The developments of the last 5 years particularly highlight the current connections to the CO2 discussion and waste heat utilization.
