Product details
The theme is ancient. Aristophanes gave it form and name in 411 BC: Lysistrata. The women's strike against the men's war. The women stand together and hold back until the men can no longer endure it. Erich Fried's new translation adheres to the original, makes the now incomprehensible allusions recognizable, and respects the original meter as much as possible. Classical philologist Heinke Lehmann presents the historical background of the play. Barbara Sichtermann renews the question of what is more essential for humanity: war or love? Because both are not as far apart as they may seem.
