Dragonfly hunting, marble games, scraped knees, secret exploration tours, the rituals of a boyhood friendship – these are the summer holidays for Maurizio, Franco, and Giulio. And they seem to return forever and last an eternity. But then a rift tears through the Sardinian village, and everyone, children and adults alike, must realize how fragile their previously peaceful coexistence was. It is a priest who sows discord by founding a new parish: suddenly, the people no longer belong together, and even the children are not allowed to play with each other anymore. How is that supposed to work in a place that has only one square? The dispute culminates at Easter during the annual festive procession. Yet the boys resolve it: with the same bold wit that previously motivated their wild pranks, they now defy all conventions.
