Max Taut, like his older brother Bruno Taut, is one of the outstanding architects of the New Building movement in the 20th century. The reinforced concrete and steel frame constructions of the buildings he realized were groundbreaking for a factual, purpose-oriented style of construction. Taut designed union houses in Berlin and Frankfurt am Main, as well as numerous school buildings, thereby giving architectural identity to the social movement and the idea of reform pedagogy. Later, he saw his main task in residential and settlement construction. The renowned architectural photographer Stefan Müller has captured Taut's most important buildings in a masterful way.
