Product details
For the first time fully edited and annotated: the thought diaries of Rahel Levin Varnhagen. Rahel Levin Varnhagen, one of the great writers of the 19th century, engaged in her correspondence with the dramatic upheavals of her time, spanning the French Revolution, the Congress of Vienna, the July Revolution, the Restoration, and the dawn of new beginnings. She lived in an era when all major questions had to be reconsidered. As a letter writer, she sparked lively interest through the first three volumes of the Rahel Levin Varnhagen edition. This fourth volume now gathers her diaries and notes. In her estate, no journals were found that were kept day by day, but rather thought diaries filled with aphoristic entries, reading notes, and sharp observations of social and political life. A private archive for thoughts.
