A literary and bibliophile treasure: The large, previously unpublished complete manuscript of the second part of Goethe's Faust as a high-quality and elaborate facsimile, accompanied by an accurate transcription. "The main business has been completed. Final mouthful. Everything written down has been inserted." With these words, Goethe noted the completion of his work on "Faust. The Tragedy Part Two" on July 22, 1831. What Goethe describes here is the insertion of the last missing pages into the large complete manuscript of Faust II, which comprises 386 pages including the cover. It was created by Goethe's scribes and contains numerous changes and additions in Goethe's own hand, as well as traces of the estate editors Johann Peter Eckermann and Friedrich Wilhelm Riemer. 26 additions are recorded on glued-in supplementary sheets or small strips.
