The Noblest of the Nation - An investigation into the genesis and maintenance of an exclusive, aristocratically influenced, intergenerational network. The advantages of having been a member of a student corps, particularly as a Göttingen Saxon, could hardly be overstated for me and my professional life. Thus, a noble Prussian district administrator reflects on his decision to become active in the Corps Saxonia. Why did the corps represent a key to success for him? How did a temporary association of a few randomly assembled students at the tranquil Hanoverian University of Göttingen become one of the leading addresses for Protestant, northeastern German noble families when it came to sending their sons to study? How and why does such a multi-generational network function? Answers to these and other questions are provided in the publication.
