Product details
Freedom of choice is the ideology of modernity. It allows humans to act as if they are not human. Indifference and repetition reconstructs the history of modern philosophy as an ideological critique project. It is ideological to assume freedom as a capacity that humans have always possessed, that is given to them. Frank Ruda refers to this as the myth of the given nature of freedom, thus opening a new perspective on history and the present. Freedom transforms into indifference and apathy precisely at the moment it is made into the supposedly natural property of humans and is thus understood mythically. The pre-modern view is the myth of the natural given nature of freedom. In contrast, modern philosophy of freedom emerges through its repeated critique of this myth and in the defense of reason against it. The critical.
