Product details

Three authors are at the center of Jürgen Brokoff's new study: Botho Strauss, Peter Handke, and Martin Walser. Handke's Yugoslavia texts, Strauss's Spiegel essays ('Anschwellender Bocksgesang', 'Der Plurimi-Faktor', and most recently in October 2015 'Der letzte Deutsche'), as well as Walser's peace prize speech with the provocative remark about the 'moral club', each generated a significant stir in the media. The debates, and especially the texts that triggered these debates, are much more closely interconnected on the level of aesthetic concepts and literary authorship models than an analysis limited to the anatomy and functioning of the literary and cultural industry can reveal. The literary techniques of the three authors require consideration of their respective biographical contexts. The texts by Strauss, Handke, and Walser demonstrate this.
