Two poets, very different in age and cultural background, collaboratively create a chain poem. The young Swiss poet Jürg Halter and Tanikawa Shuntarō, one of the great old Japanese lyricists, realized a joint project in the autumn of 2014 at Tsuda College in Tokyo: Over 48 hours, they wrote poetry in direct poetic exchange with each other. One wrote a poem, the other received the translation, responded with his own text, which was then immediately translated and became the basis for another poetic response. In total, 48 poems were created as a chain poem, 24 by Jürg Halter at every odd hour and 24 by Tanikawa Shuntarō at every even hour. The two world-renowned artists Tabaimo (Japan) and Yves Netzhammer (Switzerland) were inspired by the chain poem to create four drawings each.
