The now available complete edition of texts by Gerhard Richter complements the first part, the long out-of-print edition from 1993 covering the years 1962-93, with 15 essential contributions. It begins with a farewell letter from Richter to Heinz Lohmar. This is followed by all texts from the last extremely productive and eventful 14 years, concluding with Richter's interview from the summer of 2007 regarding his contribution to the Venice Biennale. Gerhard Richter has made his entire personal archive available for the first time, from which many of the mostly unpublished photos originate. A scholarly appendix contains explanatory comments, sources, and an index. The themes of Richter's texts are diverse and extend far beyond art-immanent questions. They include notes, diary entries, short essays written for specific occasions, letters, statements, and declarations.
