The hiking guide consists of two parts: First, there are eleven hikes around the immediate area of Gera. These hikes are all accessible by public transportation. An additional seven hikes offer destinations outside the city in the surrounding area. Some of these hikes can also be reached by public transportation. For those arriving by car, parking options are provided. Each tour is accompanied by a map excerpt showing the route. A brief introduction includes recommendations for dining options, and the tour descriptions are detailed and include background information. In the appendix, hikers will find tips that can enhance their stay. Some hikes also suggest shortcut options. Gera and its surroundings are perceived as a hiking area by the public.
