Korim, an archivist and private scholar from a Hungarian provincial town, has made a radical decision: he embarks on a journey to the USA, specifically to New York City, to die there. On the threshold of the new millennium and at various imaginary and real locations - Budapest, Crete, Venice, Rome - Korim undertakes a journey through the past of the West. He relives the horrors of history once more to arrive at himself and his longed-for end.
