Thesis from 2023 in the field of Leadership and Human Resources - Recruiting, Grade: 1.3, SRH Distance University, Language: German.

Abstract: This paper addresses the challenges faced by companies and how they can successfully navigate the War for Talent. It examines the challenges that arise during the recruitment process and how companies can differentiate themselves in this initial step. The theoretical foundations are first explained. The terms War for Talent and Candidate Experience are defined. The paper also discusses Candidate Experience Management and explains the connection between Candidate Experience and employer branding. Additionally, it addresses the role of digital media in this context.

The subsequent sections of the paper highlight the needs of candidates and companies during the application process. These needs are vividly described through a Candidate Journey. It explains how the needs of both parties differ and the contribution that effective Candidate Experience Management makes in the recruitment process. Finally, a conclusion is drawn from the insights gained, and a perspective is provided for companies on how they can leverage a positive Candidate Experience to gain a competitive advantage in the market.

The demographic change significantly affects Germany compared to other countries. Experts predicted as early as 2016 that the number of working-age individuals could decrease by about 5% starting in 2020, and by approximately 11% by 2040. Reasons for this include the decline in birth rates combined with the retirement of professionals from earlier baby boomer generations. Current developments, both socioculturally and economically, have led to a so-called War for Talent, which poses a significant challenge for companies. Talent management and the competition for skilled workers are crucial.
