Michael Wolf examines the connections between war, trauma, and politics from a psychoanalytic and generational perspective. Since the end of the Cold War, new "hot" wars have increased, particularly in the form of so-called "low intensity wars" and terrorism. These conflicts are coming closer to us and involving us in Europe, thereby intensifying the long-standing, rather latent "clash of civilizations." They also have a historical background in the history of violence in Europe, particularly in Germany. These unconscious historical connections, determinants, and triggers are analyzed in all their complexity and their implications for politics are examined for their current relevance.
