Excited and full of anticipation, we looked towards the future back then. Join us in reminiscing about the first 18 years of life - your childhood and youth! Being born in 1931 meant growing up in the dictatorship of the National Socialists and as children of war. We think of the many relatives and acquaintances who did not survive the war, and we become aware of the fortune of having "made it through." We will never forget the nights spent in bomb shelters and basements. We helped our mothers with hoarding and stealing coal. We remember playing in the rubble, the evacuation of children, school meals, but also the currency reform, dance lessons, and of course, first love.
