However, from 1947 to 1965, the foundations were also laid for the world we know today: television made its debut, cars mobilized the masses, holiday travels to foreign countries broadened our horizons, and astronauts aimed for space. We, the '47ers, witnessed a tumultuous development. We enthusiastically experienced the dawn of modernity.
