The class of 1948, the largest birth cohort of the post-war period, rolled towards society like a tidal wave. We grew up between powdered milk and Coca-Cola. We learned for school in shift classes and for life from the television. We were compensated for our childhood among the rubble with the wonders of the economy. Fashionably dressed, we danced to rock 'n' roll and twist. Later, we let our hair grow long, protested against the Vietnam War and the emergency laws, and took over universities and the workforce.
