Born in 1956, it was a childhood still close in time to the war, but already in modest prosperity, for many in a secure middle-class environment and within a framework of Christian-conservative values. It was a youth in which the impulses of the 68ers collided with this world, and the political landscape was shaped by the radical decree, the RAF, ecological issues, the threat of nuclear war, and the East-West divide. Stories are told of childhood games, school, sports, and dance classes - of all that made up our private world.
