Born in 1970, we grew up carefree, despite the Cold War and the Wall. We loved West packages and Western television just as much as Pittiplatsch and Club-Cola. We celebrated Sigmund Jähn, rejoiced with Jens Weissflog, and raced against Olaf Ludwig. Peace rides, Stasi, and the Party - words that accompanied us from a young age, just as the Russians were part of the cityscape and queuing in the department store was part of everyday life. We were pioneers and members of the FDJ, took oaths, and were sure that it would always continue like this.
