Paris in the mid-1930s is the creative center of the avant-garde: artists, photographers, European Jews, and stranded exiles populate the cafés of the Rive Gauche. Here, the Hungarian Jew André Friedman, alias Robert Capa, meets the German Jewess Gerda Taro, who has fled from the Gestapo. It marks the beginning of a passionate love affair. When the Spanish Civil War breaks out, the couple decides to go to the front together as photojournalists. Capa becomes a celebrated star photographer, while Taro becomes the first female war correspondent in her field. However, in their daring endeavors, the two lovers risk their lives every day.
