Product details

The publication "Theodor Fischer. The Stuttgart Years" aims to bring the work of the significant German architect and urban planner back into public consciousness during his most active period and to question its relevance today. In the early modern era, at the beginning of the 20th century, there was hardly a more influential architect than Theodor Fischer. No one else so swiftly embraced all the new developments of the time, from the garden city movement to the English country house, the new material reinforced concrete, and the reforms in churches and schools, processing them independently while also setting entirely unique impulses. As the "true educator of an entire generation of architects" (Fritz Schumacher), he shaped the early development of modernism like no other builder. His students included not only the architects of the "Stuttgart School," such as Paul Bonatz and Martin Elsaesser.
