Product details
Since their meeting in Berlin in 1921, a close friendship developed between Kandinsky and Grohmann, one of the artist's most important interpreters. Kandinsky's letters testify to an intense intellectual exchange between the two men regarding the painter's work and art theory. They also recount life at the Bauhaus, interactions with Paul Klee, Lyonel Feininger, and Oskar Schlemmer, as well as travel experiences and everyday matters. The letters from 1933 onward reveal how radically Kandinsky's situation changed in Paris, reflecting a withdrawn life and a constant effort to secure sales and exhibitions within the French avant-garde.
