Children between the ages of four and twelve experience significant milestones in their lives when they enter kindergarten or school and transition from primary to secondary education. These changes are crucial for their future educational paths. Against this backdrop, the interdisciplinary conference of the Swiss Society for Teacher Education focused on the educational and extracurricular learning and living environments of children. Contributors addressed four thematic areas: the upbringing of children, the challenges that transitions between different educational stages pose for children and parents, the school as a place of education, and various new pedagogical concepts and teaching projects, as well as studies on specific subjects and children's perspectives.
