In recent years, evaluation has established itself in various fields of social action as a science-based method for assessing processes, effects, and benefits of social practice. Inevitably, the use of evaluation always raises questions about its optimal use and benefits: How do evaluation activities come about and how can evaluation best be designed? What initial conditions are helpful? How are evaluation results handled? More recently, these questions have been increasingly addressed in empirical research. This volume provides a transdisciplinary platform for research projects that focus on evaluations and evaluation systems as a whole or in partial aspects. Using a variety of theoretical and methodological approaches, the authors examine evaluation activity.
