A scene from the mathematical play and exploration situation "Maps" from the project "MaKreKi" (Mathematical Creativity in Children, IDeA Center) is analyzed by various researchers in mathematics education. The focus of the scene is on two girls who attempt to concretely reconstruct the material arrangement depicted in a two-dimensional photo using the available materials in three dimensions. The range of perspectives on children's mathematical learning spans from the dimensions of multimodality (language, action, gesture, inscriptions) to forms of possible participation spaces, mathematical creativity, framing differences, and the professionalization processes of teachers.
