In educational policy debates, there is often discussion about the retention of demographic dividends within the school system. How long such a notion can persist in light of the constitutional requirement to implement the debt brake remains to be seen. "A school for everything" certainly sounds like a solution that allows for the connection of educational quality with budgetary constraints. The documentation volume of the 32nd Münster Conversations on Education places a question mark behind this formula. From a systematic perspective, it questions what "everything" actually means. From a school pedagogical viewpoint, it reflects on what society can expect from schools. Additionally, it inquires how the educational mandate of high schools and other forms of secondary education should be defined in light of current societal challenges. The school system of the province of Alberta in Canada is also examined.
