The labor market and the partner market are potential opportunities for single parents to escape poverty. Tanja Kraus examines which of these poverty-preventing options is more promising. Using discrete event data analysis, she analyzes the resources and restrictions of single parents in both sub-markets based on data from the Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP) and weighs them against each other. A central finding is that the two paths do not exclude each other; rather, they positively influence each other mutually.
