The aim of this anthology is to highlight lines of an alternative history of the creative subject by placing the previously largely neglected female concepts of genius at the center. The starting point is the observation that women have long rebelled against their well-documented exclusion from genius and have developed alternative models that aim for the inclusion of the female gender, often surpassing male concepts of genius. This collection seeks to take initial steps toward addressing this parallel history of the concept of genius. How can common narratives of the genius figure be rewritten and corrected when the focus is specifically on the question of female genius? To answer this question, various representations of female genius will be examined.
