Theo Weischer, a long-time teacher and school principal, describes everyday life in his book 'Üöwer'n Gaorentuun' not in a flat dialect. It features fine Münsterland Low German, through which readers learn about the highs and lows of life, about troubles and fears, joys and sadness. Life truths and wisdom, written in poetry and prose from 1989 to 2020, touch the heart and occasionally bring a smile. Reflective passages prompt contemplation, as shown in the concluding verses of the New Year's poem: "And everyone asks and thinks, what will the new year bring - that new year. Here, let us now guarantee, give courage and peace and joy. Sing the new year." This cannot be expressed so easily in standard German. Accompanying Theo Weischer's poems and stories are drawings by Matthias Weischer, the author's youngest son. A graduate of the Academy of Graphic and Book Art in Leipzig and an internationally successful painter, he has rediscovered the landscape of the Münsterland for this book with pencil and watercolor pad.
