Scorching heat over Mannheim. Chief Inspector Lauer is investigating the case of a shot Polish seasonal worker. His colleague, Chief Inspector Meissner, is out of commission, and an intern doesn’t seem to make things any easier for him. To make matters worse, Lauer soon finds himself with a second corpse: a journalist, bludgeoned to death with an axe. Double homicide. And all of this in the sweltering July of 2007. Lauer appears overwhelmed, not just professionally. And when things finally start to clear up, the clues suddenly lead back to the past. Another murder comes into focus for the investigators.
