The beautiful, perhaps somewhat German-sounding word "Weltfremdheit" designates a position that is as original as it is unavoidable for ancient minorities and modern majorities towards a whole, whose charm does not survive the test of history unscathed. Consequently, one could describe the book "Weltfremdheit" as an expertise on structural reform in the realm of worldly existence. In its fundamental nature, it does not belong to cultural criticism, even less to moral philosophy. Its science is certainly not a sad one; as a joyful one, it is rather restrained. What it addresses is a phenomenology of the worldless or world-turned-away spirit. This unfolds a grand world theater from the perspective of observing from the stage.
